Society

Society in the realms of Mirabilis is broken up into social classes. The Royal family that sits on the Holy Seat preside over the Empire as a whole, where as the various nobility govern the lesser kingdoms and states of the realm. Some forty years ago, the menace of the Jorith-kai invaded the lands an the remaining population took up shelter in the holy city of Mirabilis. Now set on reclaiming the four kingdoms and their lands the Humans build a force like none seen before.

The various castes have assigned to them legal, moral and religious duties. The system is quite fluid and actions or failure to act might cause a person or in severe cases an entire house to move either up or down on the caste ladder. The castes also have styles of clothing and housing that is preferred and expected. With that in mind we recommend that everyone review the social classes thoroughly.

The Five Kingdoms

The Five Kingdoms of the Empire are:

• Mirabilis
• Ectose
• Baunt
• Prease
• Feldane

Each Kingdom has a ruling house of Kings and Queens, and those positions are subject to the families power, politics and prestige. The other Noble houses of the Kingdoms either serve as allies or antagonists in the game of Houses.

Calendar

The Calendar year of the Five Kingdoms is based around the Gods and consists of ten months. Each Month represents a God or Goddess.

Religion

To say the people's of the Five Kingdoms are fervent in their faith is to say the Jorith-kai are some what the bad guys. Citizens of every social class cling to their faith especially in times such as these. The temples in Mirabilis are known throughout the realms as the most beautiful and prized of all temples. The people of the Five Kingdoms relish their religious Festivals as they do the temples and gifts they offer the Gods. The Pantheon of Gods while sometimes worshipped differently or called by different names is the same for all races of people in the realm.

Professions

There are many professions available to each level of social class in the Five Kingdoms, each intricately intertwined with each other they all work together to keep the Empire running smoothly. Be you blacksmith, weaver, or lawyer, each has a place of importance in the realm. Some require study at the Collegium while others are learned from masters of the craft. Clothing

Typical clothing of the citizens of Mirabilis and the Five Kingdoms on mass vary by social standing, and origin. For a breakdown of the various styles of clothing we have dedicated a guide to clothing and styles. Generally speaking however the basic concept is all walks tend to follow a greco/roman and Indian flare.

Day to Day Life

Day to day life fluctuates based on money, status and profession. A world at war, not many men (even some women) escape at least a short term in the Imperial Legions, and from spring to fall there is always the ever present threat of Jorith-kai to contend with. Inside the great fortress of Mirabilis however, there is some respite, to date no Jorith-kai has managed to breech the walls and so the citizens live each day fairly normally. To get a better idea, one should read a day in the life of which breaks down the day to day life of each social class.

Warfare

From the first day of spring, until the sun sets on the first day of fall, all of the Five Kingdoms live in a time of War. The enemy is relentless, patrolling the lands that were once the Empire. The Great Lord Jolik shines upon those who live their lives in the protection of the Empire, and through the Emperor leads Imperial Legions to victory. Through the cold months, those that manage to escape death in the lands outside Mirabilis inevitably find themselves seeking refuge in the grand fortress, each year there are less and less.

Legal System

The rule of the Empire is direct and firm, and there have been many laws designed to protect each citizen from harm and foul. While the Emperor and Empress are the law of the Five Kingdoms, they cannot preside over every dispute, and thus have a working judicial system to enforce the Twelve Tables of Law for them. Lawyers, Judges and Politicians all see to it the lands run smoothly as decreed by the Holy Imperial Seat. Only those very very powerful Nobles would have the right to ask the Imperial Seat to preside over a case directly. (and even then it is very rare).
